THE EXPERIENCE

The St. Vrain High School mountain bike team focuses on individual growth, teamwork, hard work, and FUN! We provide students with the skills to achieve both competitive and non-competitive cross-country mountain biking goals in a safe and fun environment. Training with our team provides life lessons in fitness, nutrition, self-discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

If you are a potential new member and are thinking of joining the team, we highly recommend you check out welcome new riders for helpful information and details about the team that are specifically designed for new riders and their parents.

Team Information

Our team is co-ed and operates as an unofficial school club sport at most of the schools that are members.

We are growing and our current interested team roster is greater than 50 riders from our five member schools.

High Coaching Standards

The Colorado High School League is a fully functioning and nationally recognized association with high standards for all coaches, directors, ride leaders, and parents who wish to assist students during any event.

For example, the team director and any coaches above Level 2, are required to have certifications in wilderness first aid, CPR, take concussion training, and pass background checks.  All ride leaders or parents who wish to volunteer to assist with students also have background checks, concussion training, safe-sport training, and suicide prevention awareness training. Coaches must maintain appropriate certifications and partake of ongoing learning to maintain their coaching license.

Team History

The team was founded in 2010 along with the Colorado High School League. At that point, our Lyons High School was one of the founding teams of the League.  Lyons rode mostly by itself until 2014 when riders from Silver Creek joined the team.  Starting in 2015, we opened the team up to all area St. Vran area High Schools to including Niwot, Longmont, Skyline and Mead and we operated as the Silver Creek team.  Today, with so many different schools we are now known as the St. Vrain MTB team and have riders from all the local area schools.
