Short Track Racing in June

For those riders wanting to prepare for racing/riding in the fall with us, there are short track races happening at Valmont Park in Boulder through June. These 20-minute, short and intense efforts prepare you for racing or intense riding with the team. Entry fees are $20 for riders aged 15+. You can race more than one category for your entry fee. Please see the Boulder Junior Cycling website for details: https://boulderjuniorcycling.org/short-track/

We recommend starting in C’s or Juniors unless you have extensive previous race experience.

Welcome to the 2022 Season!

IN THIS MESSAGE:

Hello Student-Athletes and Parents!

On behalf of all of the hard work of our coaches, staff and sponsors, Team Director, Jason Sturniolo and Head Coach, John Cotton want to welcome you to the 2022 season. As a group, we’re all hard at work, gearing up to provide you a fantastic experience in the fall.

With the weather changing, we are hoping that you’re all getting out and enjoying some early season riding!

A lot of work is underway, mostly behind the scenes, to get everything in place and ready for a stellar High School season!

However, we need your help!

This is a bit of a long message, and it contains a ton of information, but we ask that you please read through it all.

CHANGES TO LEAGUE RULES ON SCHOOLS:

Based on Colorado League requirements every team needs to be associated with at least one school.  Collectively we are composed of the schools within the St Vrain Valley School District (thus the overarching name StVrainMTB), but to the League we are known as Silver Creek.  This is due to the fact that a school needs at least FIVE racers to be considered its own team.

  • The FIVE participants counted per school ONLY INCLUDES RACERS and this count is taken based on the officially registered RACERS for the 1st race of the season.
  • Based on last year’s numbers, Silver Creek was the only school with over FIVE racers.

PLEASE REGISTER!
If you are considering joining the team this year, we are writing this to urge you to take action and register ASAP.
(AT A MINIMUM, PLEASE INDICATE YOUR INTEREST HERE
This will help us determine the number of coaches needed, assist us with jersey ordering from Primal (which takes 6-8 weeks to fulfill), and solidify logistics with the League.
(If you want to have a jersey to ride/race in this year, we need all riders who are considering riding for the team to REGISTER NOW to enable the ordering of jerseys by early July (at the latest), so they will be ready prior to the season start at the end of August.)

PLEASE RACE! Additionally, we are strongly encouraging everyone on the team to participate in at least the first race this year.  Whether you are a seasoned racer or this would be your first time,  it’s a fantastic experience for everyone.  This year you can purchase race registration individually or as a four-pack for all the races.
Race registration is here.

Please spread the word!  If your school has FIVE or more racers that register AND participate in the first race, your school will be announced and scored as its own team.

No need to think about registration deadlines and receive a $10 discount per race. It is highly recommended to reduce stress on parents, coaches and students to register for the season pass if you are planning on racing the season.

    • Riders save $10 per race if they register for all races at one time. The discount will be applied upon checkout.
    • The Series Pass option is available until the registration deadline for Race #1: August 22nd at Noon.
    • The Series Pass does not include the State Championship race. Qualified riders will need to register for that race by October 17th at Noon.
